Lapp DIOCLEZIANO consente, tramite il visore stereoscopico Cardboard VR, di immergersi nei locali delle Terme di Diocleziano, il più grande complesso termale del mondo antico, e osservarli così come erano quando furono costruiti circa 1700 anni fa.

Lapp DIOCLEZIANO è nata per rendere comprensibile e arricchire la visita di uno dei più straordinari complessi monumentali dellantica Roma: le Terme di Diocleziano, le più grandi mai edificate. Lo fa ricostruendo gli ambienti delle terme nella loro forma e nel loro aspetto originario. Ma a differenza delle tante ricostruzioni realizzate fino ad oggi, in questa il visitatore può immergersi totalmente, come se fosse realmente nello spazio tridimensionale degli ambienti. Questo è dovuto alluso della tecnologia Cardboard VR, dove attraverso lapp e lapposito visore (acquistabile anche presso il bookshop del museo) è possibile trasformare il proprio smart phone in un fantastico veicolo di realtà virtuale. Leffetto di questa visione è emotivamente straordinario. Ma al di là della di esso, lapp permette di interpretare e capire a fondo i resti visibili della struttura in cui si svolge la visita. Basterà infatti sollevare il visore dagli occhi per avere la corrispondente vista di oggi, e poter capire a quale struttura originaria appartengono i resti che si incontrano sul terreno.

Using a stereoscopic (Cardboard) VR headset, the DIOCLEZIANO App will enable anyone to immerse oneself into the rooms comprising the Baths of Diocletian, and experience them as they were originally built over 1700 years ago.

The purpose of the DIOCLEZIANO App is to enrich the tour of the Baths of Diocletian, the largest ever erected, by enabling visitors to fully appreciate one of the greatest monumental complexes of the ancient Rome. This is achieved by reconstructing and modeling the interiors of the Baths to their original forms an shapes. However, as opposed to the many reconstructions created to date, the DIOCLEZIANO App allows the visitor a full three-dimensional immersion, greatly enriching the experience. By means of the Cardboard VR Technology one can use a personal smart phone and turn it into an extraordinary virtual reality engine (the Cardboard VR Headset can be purchased at the museum bookstore). Using the app with the VR Headset is an exhilarating experience in itself while at the same time enabling visitors to fully visualize the structures and interpret the clues left by the ancient remains. By removing the VR Headset one can readily compare the correspondent present landscape, and understand which original structure the ruins displayed belong to.
